Do I need Council Approval to build a Shed in NSW?
In NSW, if you require council approval depends on a few factors such as the size, shed location and what you will be using the structure for. Many smaller, standard sheds can be built without council approval while larger or more complex structures may require council approval. Generally speaking, if your build meets the below conditions, it could meet exemptions and won’t need approval, remembering that every council across Australia builds and approves to a different set of rules. - There are no heritage or environmental restrictions on the site
